Annie is a 3 year old Golden Retriever. This will be her second year on Shepherd campus as one of the dogs participating in Mesa Public Schools Paws and Peers program. Annie spends most of her time in the library where she loves to hang out with students. You will also see her in the hallways and visiting classrooms when invited. Annie is known to students for her loving and gentle manner and she never turns down a treat!
Shepherd is proud to utilize the Paws & Peers school therapy dog program. Annie has passed obedience and therapy classes and has tested and been approved using a nationally recognized therapy team evaluation. Annie's role is to assist with the social and emotional needs of Shepherd students and staff. She serves as a trusted companion in the classroom, counseling, health office, and administrative offices for crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, or simply to address stress, anxiety and/or isolation.
